My work is about the quiet act of weaving and the joy found in the process of creating. I like to equate tapestry weaving to drawing in slow motion. It’s a small thrill when two colors and their shapes merge as they are built up one pass of the weft at a time.

Weaving is repetitive in a soothing, meditative way. The repetition allows it to be easily interrupted making it compatible with motherhood. I am learning to balance caring for three small people with my need to keep up a creative practice. Very luckily, weaving is a patient craft and will quietly wait half complete until I have the time/energy/will to pick it back up again.

I tend to oscillate between working on itty bitty patch size weavings and larger tapestries. I also go between working in geometric patterns and more freeform, organic ones. Both choices usually correlate to my current life situation and depend on how much physical space I have to weave and how much head space I have. The main thing is that I keep on weaving.
