Woven Cherckerboard
Woven Cherckerboard
Woven Checkerboard is part of an on going series that explores the woven grid.
I’m not one to ever actually play checkers, but will absolutely play with a checkered woven pattern all day.
I love the predictability and repetition that a grid provides. Yet even within this structure of a vertical warp and horizontal weft, the possibilities for pattern are limitless with different combinations of yarn colors and textures. I can see this collection being revisited again and again with different results each time.
This piece was handwoven on my simple frame loom using cotton, wool, linen, rayon and metallic yarns.
Dimensions: 12” x 13.5” woven area; mounted on 16”x18” stretched canvas board, framed in a white shadow box.
Frame dimensions: 17”x19”x1”
